ROBERT THOMAS KUHLMANN TO RELEASE NEW EP, ‘ECHO LIKE EMPTY ROOMS’

Southern California – This coming Tuesday, December 15, singer songwriter Robert Thomas Kuhlmann will be releasing his five track EP, ‘Echo Like Empty Rooms.’ Produced by the multi-platinum selling songwriter, Kevin Fisher, the effort marks Kuhlmann’s junior studio endeavor and will be available in both physical and digital formats.

Robert Thomas Kuhlmann is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and performer with an unaffected charm that comes across in the sweet honesty of his words and the simple imagery of his songs. Over the years, he has won over audiences through his live performances, which are characterized by raw, yet tender vocals and lilting guitars. Although his style can range from acoustic ballads to ringing stratocasters, the music is always heartfelt and emotional. He has proven that he is as much at home performing solo on a SXSW stage as he is backed by a full band.

Kuhlmann is very much a musical veteran; he was an active participant in the formative years of the St. Louis punk and new wave scene in the late 1970s and he later went on to help form two of the area’s more influential groups of the early 80s: the power-pop trio, Dear John, and the edgier, alternative-pop outfit, Page Three. In the mid 90s, however, Kuhlmann debuted his first solo acoustic record, ‘Confidential Reasons.’

As a songwriter, Kuhlmann has been lauded time and time again for his talent. In 2007, he and his co-writer, Doug Sparks, were named Runner Up by the ‘Song of the Year’ songwriting contest for their tune, ‘One Wish.’ Beyond that, Kuhlmann was selected as a regional finalist by Farm Aid 6 organizers to compete for a slot in the 1993 Farm Aid benefit concert.

Grab a physical album after Dec. 15 and alert your local record shop if you’d like to see the album there, too!

Nowadays, Kuhlmann can be found regularly appearing throughout Southern California as a solo acoustic artist. He’s recently reunited with a former bandmate as well, collaborating with guitarist Peter Sheppard. Sheppard is a member of Jackknifed Big Rig, the band backing Kuhlmann on ‘Echo Like Empty Rooms.’ On two tracks, ‘Forever Friends’ and ‘Labor Day,’ Sheppard harnesses his prowess for some of most emotional instrumental solos on the album.

‘Echo Like Empty Rooms’ is the latest chapter in Kuhlmann’s incredibly extensive and rewarding career in the industry. Tracks like ‘Labor Day’ exhibit a hauntingly beautiful sense of introspection and emotion. At its heart, the album is the perfect manifestation of a singer songwriter penning songs that toy with rock and roll musings as well. ‘Forever Friends’ may be the finest example of this, elegantly melding Kuhlmann’s inspirations and genre-bending style into one track.

‘Echo Like Empty Rooms’ acts as Volume One of a larger project for Kuhlmann. Volume Two is already in the works. In the next several weeks, the album will be available on major digital platforms: iTunes and the like. After December 15, fans can pick up a physical copy via CD Baby or Amazon. Even better yet, it is also available via Kuhlmann’s website and PayPal. He’ll even sign it.
