I’m really excited to be performing at Venice Santa Monica Free Methodist Church’s Music Café Night this Saturday, May 18th. It’s going to be a great night of music, coffee, food, desserts, worship and praise. Also appearing will be David Gaulton and Seven Years.

I’ll be joined by Gina Fletcher (drums) and EJ Wells (bass) for a full 45 minute set. And we are debuting a batch of new songs! Don’t miss it – we go on at 7:15pm…

Spring shows

2 new RTK dates on the horizon!
On Sunday, April 28, 2013, Jackknifed Big Rig will be playing at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Music Festival in Hermosa Beach, CA.

Then I’ll be performing a short acoustic set at 7pm to open Venice Santa Monica Free Methodist Church’s Music Café Night on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

Plus, we will start working on the new recording project in early May!

Springing Forward!

I have finally determined to spring into action and move forward with my next recording project. It’s not the one I was planning, either. Guess we lost an hour of sleep and somehow I end up being inspired!

In the next few months, we’ll be recording at least 3 new songs and releasing them individually through iTunes. Once again, we’ll be recording with my friend Chris Hastings and NoVanGogh’s Doug Sparks will probably get his ears dirty in the process as well. Stay tuned!

Oh, and look out for the limited edition release of a 6-track Dear John CD.

Jackknifed Big Rig on Sunset!

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, and now it’s time – let’s start a new band!

Introducing Jackknifed Big Rig.

We will debut this new original ensemble Saturday, August 11th with a mini-set at the Foundation Room at the House of Blues on Sunset.

Joining me on this new adventure will be long-time musical compadre Pete Sheppard on guitar, EJ Wells on bass, and Gina Fletcher on drums. EJ and Gina have been the rhythm section with the Matsuri Praise Team the last few years. Pete and I have worked together off and on since the Orchids and have been threatening to put a rock n roll band together for the last few years.

So, the time is now! Don’t know what’s next, but hey, that’s why it’s an adventure!

Hopefully it won’t create a Sig alert. If you’re a member, hope to see you there!

Turning up the Volume on Record Store Day

Vintage Vinyl just announced their confirmed schedule of events for Record Store Day 2012 on Facebook. Here’s a few of the bands playing there on April 21, 2012:

12PM: Tower Groove Records showcase with Bunnygrunt ,Warm Jets USA, The Skekses
1PM: Dear John
2PM: Bob Reuter’s Alley Ghost

Notice the listing at 1pm? It says Dear John. That’s not 100% accurate but it is true that we have officially turned up the volume for our Record Store Day in-store. Yep, it only took trading a few Facebook messages to turn what was initially scheduled as an acoustic appearance into a rocking reunion of sorts!

Joining me for this special performance will be my Dear John band mate Larry Wilke on drums and our long time pal Bob Chekoudjian (from the Retros) will be handling the bass chores.

So it’s not really Dear John, because there is no Dear John without including the third member of our trio, George Schneller, who is currently in Florida somewhere.

It’s really 2 guys from Dear John and a Retro playing the songs from the Dear John single and bunch of other songs. Of course, they probably wanted to promote us as Dear John because BDR is releasing a special RSD12 version of the Dear John single that will only be available there! That is much easier than calling it 2 guys from Dear John and a Retro.

Bottom line, it’s gonna be a very special afternoon on Delmar Boulevard, complete with hours and hours of free music, free beer, and the ability to buy some really cool records! I hope you can join us…

Record Store Day: Vintage Vinyl St. Louis (4/21/12)

I’m extremely excited to be part of this year’s Record Store Day on April 21, 2012. I’ll be performing a solo acoustic set at Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis (show time TBA) and the guys at BDR are also putting together an exclusive Record Store Day edition of the Dear John 7″ “Frustrated Conversation” with the last remaining copies of original vinyl!

It’s been over 10 years since my last gig in St. Louis and I’m really looking forward to seeing all my friends, old and new…
